grace is weakness

or so i’ve been told.

Ashalys is a highly skilled spy for the First Order, specializing in assassination and undercover work. Born in 4 ABY (making her 30 standard years old) on Tatooine to unknown parents, her life was forever changed when her family was brutally slaughtered by bounty hunters. Her would-be murderers didn’t have the heart to kill a child, so they left her in the hands of a known slaver.

It was a hard life, full of taxing physical labor (and worse, but she doesn’t like to dwell on it), but Ashalys dreamed of better, the anger she felt toward her masters never abating until she’d honed it to a sharp sword. On the day of her twentieth birthday, after months of meticulous planning, she slit her masters’ throats in their sleep, then detonated charges she’d placed throughout the building—she’d never seen carnage on such a large scale before, and it stayed with her up until the present day...but what surprised her the most was how thrilling and incredible it felt to snuff out a life.

She’d heard whispering on Tatooine of the First Order, how it wanted to rule the galaxy with a firm hand, and Ashalys liked the idea: the Galactic Senate had turned a blind eye to the ongoing slave trade; she’d long ago stopped believing in them, but the Order...if they were so feared, perhaps it was because they actually accomplished things without posturing and debating about them for decades. With an ear to the ground, Ashalys found a splinter cell of the Order and was quickly inducted into their ranks upon telling them of how she’d murdered her masters and their cohorts (and that she’d liked it). Impressed by the intelligence and follow-through she’d displayed, Ashalys was assigned to a mentor to begin training as an assassin. She quickly rose in rank until her superior commanded her to kill her mentor—frightened that she’d be cast out of the Order, to have to scavenge for scraps of food and search for a place to stay, Ashalys did as she was commanded, and the proud smile on her mentor’s face as she died made her smile, too—she laughed as blood rained around them, deliriously happy that she’d proven herself to be useful. Ashalys never again feared being cast out again, and her bloodlust was encouraged and focused against the Rebels.

Now widely considered to be the First Order’s deadliest assassin, Ashalys is dangerously unstable, but her loyalty to the order is unshakable.

• Ashalys has a soft, girlish laugh, which contrasts with everything else about her.

• Her longest undercover role spanned the length of two years, where she was disguised as a Senator’s wife. The mission left her shaken and unsure, but reconditioning ensured that she had no lasting regrets about firing a bolt into his head.

• Ashalys has a BB-9E unit that she affectionately calls Nines.

• She has a vast knowledge of herbalism, so Ashalys often has numerous potions, poisons, and salves on her person.

• She’s a fan of spicewine. A big fan.

• Ashalys speaks Bocce, Galactic Basic, and Huttese, as well as some Jawa Trade Talk.

• She distrusts Force-users on principal (they’re one of the only things she can’t control), but she doesn’t hate them, per se: if one uses the Force against her without her consent, however, they’re dead.

• She has her own ship, a Xi-class light shuttle—its lack of uniqueness makes it easier to hide in plain sight.
